He was nervous on the inside, always nervous. It was his nature really to be shaky and weary of everything, but in these times Niven's had learned how to act the calm, act the stern and act the strong. It took a lot of energy and will and don't forget determination but he succeeded.
Suddenly the squirrel swung it's sword in his direction and his eyes widened at the brandishing before it was put away and the question of her being an Understudy yet not been seen was played out. This was getting very close, a little too close for his comfort. He was about to address the posed question, except that he didn't have to.
With a open mouth and a silenced expression, this girl managed to answer it for him. She watched her speak with such ease, lie with such disinterest that he smiled gently and nodded to her. " Yes, hired today and not a moment too soon." he said gently watching the girl before turning his attentions back to the guard. Oh how he hated playing nice with this one, he was a disgrace to all the animals of Underland the way he behaved.
He watched then as Saydeneech attempted to show them the proper way of rounding up Hedgehogs. It was barbaric! Disgusting really! He was appalled to be witness to it. But he nodded to the Squirrel and bowed low. " Yes most effective and a excellent way Sir. We shall not keep the Queen waiting at all thanks to your generous advice. I believe we will be good now, I'd hate to waste your time." It hurt him terribly to say that, especially when he knew the creature was enjoying it. As he spoke the hedgehog scurried to his feet where he picked it up and held it tight. Turning to move back towards the basket to place it again where he belong he looked gravely at the poor creature. " I do apologize. I am terribly sorry." He whispered to it with a soft voice.

Frankly, Saydeneech felt quite proper addressing the sloppy mistakes of the commonfolk. If the Queen were watching him, he would imagine that she would approve – a commendable pat on the back, so to speak. He watched the hedgehog round in the opposite direction, landing right in the rabbit's grasp, as he cradled it with exceptional care and carried it to the basket where all the hedgehogs were kept until her Majesty was ready to have a game of croquet. The swordsman didn't have the tastes to partake in such frivolous games as the Queen, but he shared her fondness for bashing poor creatures around, a trait many of the Queen's guards shared for the sake of a better ruled Underland. A single hedgehog eluded him however, diving head first into the hedge and not a moment too soon, its quills were hooked. Saydeneech, blade still drawn and glinting in the midday sun, pricked the mammal, making it whimper, wriggling uncomfortably as it tore loose form the low hanging foliage and scamper off back towards the basket to lie in wait with the rest of his brethren. Huffing with satisfaction, the red furred squirrel threw his sword back into his scabbard, a sharp click as the hilt fit snugly on his waist. Paws gripping the fabric of his belt, it hiked it higher on his hips, allowing his voice to consider the girl's words, her speech casual and polite in its own fashion. “Oh?” He started, then quickly nodded. “Of course, of course.” taking Niven's words into consideration himself. “An Understudy. Perhaps I should commend her hardworking efforts to the Queen.” He uttered out loud, mentally applauding himself for his cleverness. His fur suddenly spiked with realization as it dawned on him. Hedgehogs weren't he only thing required in playing croquet, flamingos were a necessity as well. Extending the ivory lined fur of his chest, he paced forward, “My goodness gracious, I had nearly forgotten! Those flamingos need to be rounded up, in a jiffy, I might add.” He was growing excitable again, a habit by nature, he assumed. It came rather naturally to him sometimes, a flaw in his chemical composition left over by instinct and animal like affinity.

SHOW ME HOW TO LIE ♠ - - - ♠ - - - ♠ I'm getting better all the time[/sub] LOTTI-RAHZIEL WANTED
to kick this squirll thing so bad! It was beginning to get on her nerves, thinking it could butt in and do whatever it wanted. Then again, you could do whatever you wanted if you were really close to the higher classes of the social ranks, couldn't you? It was just so stupid sometimes. But one thing that seemed to be saving her skin was her kiss ass additude. Did all higher ups like that kind of talk? Lotti sure hoped not, it was getting on her nerves, even if she didn't mean it. Just faking it make her feel sick enough. If she had to mean it, she would probably die. She barely put any emotion into anything. "Thank you, sire. I'd like nothing better," she said, not really caring if he did or not. There was no Nora and no Understudy. Besides, she'd be out of here as soon as possible, just hoping that she wouldn't have to meet anyone else and that she could be on her way. Then the guard began to go chase after the flamingos and she let him. Its not like she wanted to do the work herself. Besides, she was having trouble enough staying awake. She wanted to sleep soon. An idea hit her. If she was "Nora" who was an "Understudy", she wondered if she could get some real food and a bed to sleep on. A small smirk flashed on her lips as she came up with a plan. "Well, as you know, sir, I just started today, but I'm horribly starved from working so hard chasing those hedge hogs around that I almost feel faint. Do you possibly think I could leave now?" she asked, hoping her plan would work. If not, she could always run. She was pretty good at improvising, anyways. - - - ♠ - - - ♠ - - - nya ♠WORD COUNT♠ posted with phone; opps! Wrong posting template! He turned after placing the little creature back where it belonged but another had eluded them and he almost rolled his eyes at the ignorance of that creature at this very moment. It would have been best to stay where one needed to and belonged around the squirrel, but he understood why they were not so keen to listen. Who would enjoy being punted through the air by a flamingo and a lady baring it? No, he would imagine he would run as well.
He heard a sudden noise from the squirrel and a brandishing of the sword before watching the escaped artist scurry through his feet and into the basket. Finally a moment, he closed the lid and secured it tight so none would be able to run again. They did not tie their hands and feet together until it was time for the game, even the Queen was kind enough to afford them that. " I hope you have all learned the lesson." he said very gently before turning back to the other two.
Dodo was still trying to catch that flamingo, but let us admit the truth, he wasn't always the brightest and most capable bird so he was flying after it like a crazed chicken. Niven's let out a sigh, there was so many distractions right now. Then with a puffy hiss and a lunge with a brandishing sword, Niven's watched somewhat horrified as Saydeneech went for the flamingo. It was all wrong, it wasn't as easy as the hedge hog, it wouldn't take as much to brute force, however much fun the little rodent was having.
When the 'Nora' girl had spoken up, Niven's snapped his eyes towards her and nodded. Yes, that was a good idea indeed, to get away from this little guy was probably the best idea yet. "yes, I unfortunately have not had the time to show her the castle grounds or get her anything to eat. She is more likely famished."

Saydeneech sniffed, catching the breeze in his nostrils as he set his sights higher, more productive than ambling after a bunch of prickly quilled hedgehogs. Flamingos. Now that was a trophy worth boasting to his fellows back at the barracks, although he assumed a bandersnatch would excite the topic of conversation all then more. For now, however, Flamingo would have to do.
Bunching his tiny muscles, he prepared for the spring, sinews tampered by years of tree limb travel, sailing through the air as effortlessly as a bird taking to the sky with an eager flap of its wings. His path was more fur filled, though, but lively, with a growing need to suspend other creatures beneath him. Niven and Miss Nora could wait on his attentions a little while longer. The Dodo, was also having a go at attempting to subdue the renegade flamingos as they took to the sky, kicking up their stilt like legs as they tried to gain altitude before being snagged on a stray wing and descending to reascend once more. Saydeneech puffed out his chest, leaning forward as he powered his speed with the help of his back legs, traveling with effortless grace on four legs, sheathing his sword in the process.
Without a second thought, he leaped up upon the feathered fowl, kicking his back egs to ascend the feathery staricase as he climbed up to the Dodo's shoulders, using the bird as a springboard to gain height as he sprang into the air, the hum of his sword entering the fray in mid flight, slasing his blade across one of the flamingo's wings, tearing it with a flutter of pink down. This alone was enough to render the bird from flight, as it spun out of control down to earth. Landing, paws spread out beneath him, he caught his sword, brandishing it on the trails of air before turning back to his company, almost misplacing them in the process from his mind.
He caught the last bit of conversation, though, something about escorting Miss Nora around the grounds for some food. He nodded absently, shooing them away and spoke in his commanding voice. "Of course, of course. The lady must be quite famished in this heat indeed. You are excused. The Dodo and I can finish the job in much greater time now that I'm here. Get her settled in, Niven."

SHOW ME HOW TO LIE ♠ - - - ♠ - - - ♠ I'm getting better all the time[/sub] LOTTI-RAHZIEL COULDNT
believe that both of the furry animals believed her "feeling faint" little story. She thought that she had done a really bad job at the lie. Then, upon further inspection, she realized that the rabbit might use this as a way to get her off of the castle's premissis. That'd mean she wouldn't get a nice bed to sleep on or a warm meal- something she hadn't had in a long time. No, she couldn't let that happen. "Thank you sir," she said to the squirll in the warmest way possible, but it took an odd turn and sounded slightly demonted. Even she winced at her own words and she didn't expect that at all. Was that how she sounded to other people? Oh well, it sounded kind of cool. As she and the rabbit walked off she told the rabbit a few words of advice. Speaking in a hushed voice, far away enough from the squirll, she said, "You know, you can't get rid of me yet. It is my first day after all." Proud of her words, she followed the rabbit still. If he shoved her out the door on her "first day" it'd look too odd and someone just might lose their head, so this ensured her at least one night of sleep on a real bed and a warm meal. Or a cold meal, she didn't care as long as it was food. - - - ♠ - - - ♠ - - - nya ♠WORD COUNT♠ Rabbit: if you don't want to be walking with lotti, I can chanve my post. In the back of his mind he told them to stop, just stop fluttering around, stop moving, just go back to their place beside the Dodo and try to withstand the game that they were going to be used for. But they didn't, flamingos were always too stupid and too proud to not try to fly off. And that was when the horrific began.
Nivens watched in horror, eyes wide and almost too large for his own good as the squirrel lunged itself from the Dodo and leaped through the air. It sored high and as any would expect, it caught up fast. A slice through the air and down went the bird, spinning wildly out of control. Nivens had to put a hand over his eyes so he didn't see the impact with the ground. Completely barbaric. He wanted to say something, wanted to should at the creature, to stand up for the pink plumaged friend, but he knew better, he knew his place and he would keep quiet. Stupid flamingo, he should have just listened. He looked grievely for a moment at Dodo before calming his expression when the rodent turned his attention to him.
Nodding and bowing he signaled the girl to follow him. " Thank you Sir, and good luck rounding up those miscreants." Gesturing again for the girl to follow after, they moved rather quickly out of sight, he hoping before he. His destination was first to get her food. As they entered the castle he heard her remark and stopping he looked back at her. " What a fine way to speak to someone who literally may have just saved your neck. " he began coldly with narrowed eyes. "I would have thought you might have been a bit more appreciative but apparently you aren't accustomed to much" he shook his head gently. " If I were you, I'd do what I said to begin with and get out of here, this isn't some game nor leisurely resort."
