“Come back here you little…” Kristov was grumbling now, the hedgehog had gotten out of it’s restraints and he had followed it into the maze. He had no plans on chasing the little bugger- but if it meant getting away from the hustle and hubbub of the game-or the Queen shouting for a new hedgehog for her friend she was playing with… he was happy to oblige! Even though he was young compared to many of the others in court- he had grown up with the Queen and her sisters… to this day he still wasn’t quite sure why they couldn’t talk things through, but then again there was his age again. Too naïve to really understand war was a must when dealing with a person like Iracebeth.
On hands and knees he searched high and low for the little brown creature, his brain calculating that the little guy just might not want to be hit anymore. He sighed. “You know I’m not going to bring you to get beat on anymore… I just wanted to find you and check up on you….” The shivering creature tugged softly at his shoe, looking up at him with wide eyes, almost begging not to be put in front of the flamingo head again. Kristov nodded and picked the little guy up.
“You ok? Not hurt right?” his brow arched as he pet the spines back and sat down on the bench, eyes darting back and forth from the entrances. “No one will find you in here, half of the time they can’t even get out.” A half smile before placing the hedgehog down next to him and reaching in his coat pocket- the edge of the scar peaking out from beneath his shirt lapel. In a quick motion he placed a piece of bread in front of the hedgehog and looked down at an approving white rose.
The maze was quiet this time of day, after all a croquet game was going on.

A lovely day was set today and like many lovely days that were set, the Queen decided to have a nice game of Croquet. Sol was not needed now, this was her leisurely activity, her time of ease and that usually meant he was not around.
Today he would stroll towards his own little pleasure spot, the Gardens, which were adjacent to the maze thanks to a small little pathway that was nearly hidden. There were others ways to the Gardens, but not this area, it was rather tricky to find. Sol enjoyed the thought of he being one of the very few who knew how to get there, the only other he was aware of was Princess Nimira who stumbled upon him one day last week. His mind was already returning to peace, readying itself for a recharge that was direly needed.
But something changed his path and his destination. It was no surprise at all to Sol that it did, in fact he was already planning on going in the direction right towards the maze. There was someone here. He moved slowly, fluidly, as he neared the edge of a row and turned the corner. Continuing on, it was no long before he heard a voice and he stopped, peering around the corner to spot a man speaking with a small hedgehog and giving it food as he sat down. When it was the precise opportune time, he stepped forward, the boy looking still at the creature and with no expression at all he stared at him, speaking very smoothly and softly. "That was very chivalrous of you."

The little hedgehog mumbled as it sat there and snacked on the bread he offered it. Kristov’s own eyes looking down at it. ”Sucks to be the ball and never get to strike back… I know how you feel.” Kristov never fit in within the castle grounds, just as a Noble (no pun intended) the man still needed to live upon the grounds in which his parents were guests and even made their home at.
Kristov had two very prominent traits when he was stressed, his jaw would tighten and he would pop his neck to hear the crack ring through his own mind- reminding him on how human he is. Was he antsy here, always, yes… was he looking for a way out- a way to live comfortably in the land in which he was born without thinking of the nightmares that plagued his dreams and the others that ran the household- yes. Both were not happening any time soon….
The silence in the maze was quickly broken by the stranger they only called ‘Sol’ commented about his treatment to the animal. The scream in the background of the queen asking for her hedgehog was almost louder than he-but something he had become accustomed to ignoring. Jaw tightened- as he knew that Sol was part of the Queen’s trusted advisors and that he supposedly had super natural powers, something Kristov was almost not willing to test. ”Sometimes these little guys need a break too… is all, Sir. What brings you out here, Sir, should you not be with the Queen like the rest of her followers?” Did Kristov not trust anyone under the Queens thumb, yes, did he know Sol’s true loyalties? No.

Sol was merely standing there watching the two. His eyes always seemed so deep when he studied people or creatures. As if they were searching deep into your core and soul, he was sure his eyes did not help one bit really. He focused on the boys face before changing his gaze towards the small creature that was mumbling at its small amount of bread.
His face was still stone cold with no expression as he watched the little hedge hog eat the morsel it was given. Far more than it had been in the past few days he was sure. It was a long moment that he watched the creature, the boy posing a question causing the little guy to look at him. He cowered a bit when the Queen screamed for another, Sol hardly noticed, he was not here to fetch her more instruments for her game.
When the question had it's answer and the large black eyes still did not move from his own, he turned the large somewhat glowing blue gaze towards this Noble boy. "I do not participate in such frivolous games, nor do I pretend to enjoy them or pretend to be content each time a score is made. So me being there would be pointless..however, I could propose the same question to you, why are you here?" He already knew the answer but he always let others speak it.
Slowly he made his way towards the bench, again his attention on the small creature, where a hand lifted and he ran a finger delicately along the bridge of it's nose where it seemed to coo and purr from contentment. " I do not need such formalities of respect, call me as everyone does."

Our dear little Nimira was of course avoiding her sister as she had been asked to play that horrid game she hated oh so much. She found no point in hitting a poor hedgehog with another animal, why couldn't they use inanimate object instead? Sighing she smiled gently raking her fingers through her elaborately emerald colored hair and pursed her sparkling lips. It was fun to be different around here, not just another person to fade into the background. Of course this all meant she was more easily spotted when trying to sneak away and sneaking from the castle had become harder and harder, but with that her excuses became much more elaborate and oddly believable. Humming softly to herself she crouched on her hands and knees hearing her sister, obviously one of her "balls" had escaped. She was searching for the poor creature to let it go.
Crawling through a rather good sized hole she cooed to the animal when she saw it. It was then she had noticed the two men standing a few feet away. And she also realized the view down her corset was impressive. Quickly scrambling to her feet she smiled brightly. "Hello" She said softly. Looking at the hedgehog she scooped the creature up, who then crawled up her arm to snuggle into her neck. "Would either of you mind or tell if I let the poor thing go? I think that's why Sissy is mad, someone had been letting all her hedgehogs go." She said with an innocent smile.

For a moment the question truly made him think. Why was he there? Loyalty-no… a feeling of feeling of responsibility- Possibly… or maybe just revenge- waiting patiently for his chance. Should he truly say this? Why not. His body crouched near the ground watching the hedgehog smiling-before it faded with the acknowledgement that he should be answering the question posed to him.
“Responsibility I suppose… my mother and father are part of the Queens court… now I suppose I don’t see myself leaving because of it… so call me her hedgehog fetcher….” A silent shrug before turning to watch the interaction between his little friend and the man people only knew as Sol. “He seems to like you…” the little hedgehog seemed to purr at the sentiment before the nose became louder with his excitement to see the little princess.
Kristov stood up and smiled once again, before clearing his throat. “Honestly princess… it seems we both may be the infamous ball thief Her Majesty has been looking for. I have no complaints… he’s already making new friends because of it.” He watched the little creature skiddadle up her arm and nuzzle into her neck, the smile creeping back again. He knew he liked this Princess for a reason….

He listened to this boys reasoning as to his current occupancy at the castle. Part of what he said was indeed true, however perhaps he did not know his true soul purpose. What drove him instinctively to be here, or just did not want to admit it to himself. However Sol would not push anything, he accepted his answer and in turn nodded in assurance that he indeed had listened. " There are many here that only attend out of obligation to their family name rather than desire to follow." he looked to the boy once more with a slight smile if you could call it that then at the hedgehog before he looked up and away.
Sol had stood long before the little Princess had arrived, and when the small creature began to make noises and movements of excitement before running to the girl, he turned his attentions to her before slowly bowing deeply and gracefully. His robes catching wind and flowing in the gentle breeze which each shifting. " Whether the Queen should know of this escape or not, is not a matter to which I care about. So as far as if I would mind, the answer one would assume will be no, not at all.
